MEET DAWN
Dawn Janow has been a Bainbridge Island resident for over 20 years and is grateful to have raised a family on the Island. In her decades of service, Dawn has held numerous volunteer and leadership roles in sports, education, theater, parks and outdoor activities. Most recently, Dawn served as Park Commissioner and has been deeply involved with a variety of exciting initiatives on the Island.
During her six-year tenure as Park Commissioner (2019-2025), Dawn has dilligently worked to increase trails, open space, upgrade Kids Up, acquire the BIRC, expand the dog park at Strawberry, and envision and push for the creation of a Natural Resources department. Dawn also spearheaded and served as project manager for Friends of the Bainbridge Troll, bringing international recycle artist Thomas Dambo’s work to Sakai Park and five other PNW sites. Additionally, Dawn serves on the No Child Left Inside Advisory committee for the WA Recreation Office which provides funding for outdoor education and recreation initiatives aimed at underserved youth across Washington State.

Dawn spearheaded new drinking fountains and upgraded the roller rink surface during her time with the Bainbridge Roller Hockey League. She was instrumental in fundraising to upgrade fields, drainage, and more at the Rotary baseball field during her time with Little League.
You may have seen Dawn's costumes on stage at Bainbridge Performing Arts (BPA), InD, Lesser Known Players, or Ovation, where she has contributed to dozens of productions since 2005. This breadth of experience and understanding of Bainbridge Island places her in a unique position to bring creativity, communication and collaboration to City Council.
Why city council?

"I’m running for City Council to bring efficiency, common sense, renewed energy, and my skills fostering partnerships and collaboration between public agencies to Bainbridge. I feel strongly that our public and private agencies can and should do a better job of communicating and collaborating with each other for the betterment of our community as a whole. I believe we are stronger when we work together, and improving relationships between our public, private and non-profit agencies will help eliminate redundancies and result in more efficient use of tax payer dollars and a clearer direction for our Island as a whole."
A legacy of service to the island
